San Juan – Staff and representatives of the 10 administrative agents of the areas comprising the Public Housing Administration (PHA) and agency personnel took CARE training, a computer program used when an emergency or disaster is declared and short- or long-term shelters must be opened on the island.
The initiative, which emerged from the Emergency Management Coordination Office of the Puerto Rico Department of Housing and the PHA, headed by Mr. Antonio Morales, aimed to train the administrative agent staff on how to manage the program, created by the Puerto Rico Innovation & Technology Service (PRITS). These workshops were offered by technology agency personnel.
“It is our secretary and administrator's commitment to continue offering these types of seminars to stay abreast of changes in how we collect data from the population or families who must move to a shelter in the midst of an emergency. Although we have not had an emergency so far this hurricane season, we know that you, who manage our shelters, and our Emergency Management component, are ready to respond immediately should any event or disaster arise,” concluded Mr. José Torres, Chief of Staff for Public Housing.
