San Juan - Housing Secretary Ciary Pérez Peña, along with the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Willianette Robles Cancel, and Public Housing Administrator Juan A. Rosario, participated in the "Experience the Magic" event, held at the Dr. Pedro Rosselló González Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan. Hundreds of residents of our public housing units from the Public Housing Administration (PHA) participated in this event.

"Experience the Magic" is a unique experience featuring a basketball clinic led by coaches from the Orlando Magic NBA team. Nearly 500 basketball-loving teenagers, residents of public housing units on the island and other communities, had the opportunity to enjoy this experience. They were joined by former stellar player JJ Barea. The event was attended by 92% male participants and 8% female participants.

According to Secretary Pérez Peña, “These athletes, between the ages of 13 and 18, rotated through nine courts to receive training in basic basketball skills such as rebounding, passing, ball handling, offense, free throws, defense, and three-point shooting, among other things. Without a doubt, we know this was an enriching experience that opens doors and fosters the personal and professional development of our youth,” the official stated.

The Department of Housing and its Public Housing Administration are committed to the athletic development of our youth and will continue to work alongside the Tourism Company and other agencies of the Government of Puerto Rico for the benefit of the communities.
