With an investment of nearly one million dollars from the Department of Housing's CDBG-DR program, the former Vega Alta municipal gymnasium was renovated to become a Sports Training Center specializing not only in boxing but also in wrestling.

The Undersecretary of the Department of Housing, Omar Figueroa, and the administrator of the Public Housing Administration (AVP), participated in the inauguration, along with Mayor María Vega and former world boxing champion Félix "Tito" Trinidad.

This new center is part of the recovery efforts to transform unused structures into spaces that promote well-being, sports, and community activities, which are being developed throughout the island with funds from the Department of Housing's CDBG-DR disaster recovery program.
