Santa Isabel – The Undersecretary of the Department of Housing, Attorney Omar Figueroa, representing the Secretary, Ciary Pérez Peña, presented the property title for Lot 106-A, where the Villa Mar Community Library is located in Santa Isabel. The recipient of the title, and the petitioner, is the non-profit organization Voluntarios Precudos por la Educación (Volunteers Concerned for Education), which for several decades has fostered education and learning for children, youth, and adults in that community and the town of Santa Isabel in general, in the space they created as a community public library.
This community organization has provided educational services since the 1990s and developed this space in collaboration with the community to offer instruction. The lot, which was part of a remaining portion of land, will now have the necessary legal certainty to further expand and strengthen its educational, cultural, and support programs for children, youth, and adults.
Also participating in the event were the regional director of the Department of Housing in Guayama, Ms. Marangelys Sáez Morales, and her staff; community leaders Mr. Alberto Rodríguez Rivera and Ms. Jacklyne Ortiz Vélez; Mayor Meldwin Rivera; Senators Rafael "Rafy" Santos Ortiz and Wilmer Reyes Berríos; and district representatives Estrella Martínez Soto and Fernando Sanabria Colón.
Congratulations to everyone in the Villa Mar community of Santa Isabel for receiving their property titles.
