Juan Rosario Hernández with the Working Women from different agencies.
March 6, 2025

Hato Rey – As part of the celebration of Working Women's Week, the Department of Housing and its affiliated agency, the Public Housing Administration (AVP), held a beautiful event to recognize the work of women working in the agencies.

On behalf of Secretary Ciary Pérez Peña, Acting Secretary and Administrator of the AVP, Juan Rosario Hernández, thanked the women who work daily in the agencies.

“Our secretary is a hardworking and combative woman like you, who has excelled in various roles and understands the commitment each and every one of you has to your work and to the agency. On behalf of our secretary, Ciary Pérez Peña, we present this flower to you, a symbol of the commitment both she and I have to you—many of you secretaries, administrative assistants, civil servants, department directors, lawyers—in short, thank you very much. Our work serving our clients and the people in general is made easier.”

All the women at the central Housing building on Barbosa Avenue in Hato Rey were presented with carnations. Upon presenting them, the AVP administrator and interim secretary stated, "This is a small gift of our love and respect for you and in celebration of Working Women's Week."

The activities commemorating Women's Week culminated on Friday, March 7, with a screening of the film "The Six Triple Eight," specifically for the women, in the multipurpose room. In addition, all employees enjoyed visits from artisans and entrepreneurs from the Public Housing Administration, residents of AVP communities who have their own small and medium-sized businesses and services. Likewise, the Housing Authority visited the El Laberinto Bookstore in Old San Juan, the mobile unit of the Commonwealth Employees Association, the Federation of Teachers' Cooperative, and FEDECOOP. They provided information about their services and the participation of INSPIRA, all of whom were present in the lobby of the agency's central office.
