The appointed secretary of the Department of Housing inspects construction and inaugurates the Technological Education Center in Vega Alta.

Vega Alta - The designated Secretary of Housing, Ciary Pérez Peña, visited the municipality of Vega Alta, where, together with Mayor María Vega and local legislators, they inspected several projects being developed in the town. Some of them are being funded through the Department's CDBG-DR program, and others are a combination of FEMA, regular CDBG, and CDBG-DR funds.

She also inaugurated a Technological Educational Center (CET) in the Las Violetas residential area of ​​Vega Alta.

The projects that were inspected and are either close to completion or in full development were Vega Alta Park, the Municipal Gymnasium, and the Héctor Flores Pantoja passive park. These projects total an investment of $8,030,195.70 USD.

Following these inspections, Mayor Vega, Arecibo District Senators Brenda Pérez and Gabriel González, and Representative Elinette González, along with the designated Housing Secretary Pérez Peña, participated in the inauguration of the CET Technological Educational Center at the Las Violetas residential development. This community, located in Area 11 of the Public Housing Administration (AVP), is managed by the managing agent Cost Control. It is the first to be inaugurated by Secretary Ciary Pérez Peña.

Addressing those present, the secretary stated, “I am grateful for the appointment Governor Jennifer González Colón has given me. Although I am new to the position, I am no stranger to the Department of Housing. A few years ago, I directed the regional offices of Caguas and Humacao, so I am familiar with the Department's and Public Housing programs. I am here to assure you, the residents of Las Violetas and all our AVP residents, that we will fulfill our commitment and our governor's government program. Therefore, you can count on me to offer you the programs and services that all our residents need.”

The mayor of Vega Alta thanked the Secretary of Housing for her appearance, saying, "We are honored by your visit, that of your employees, and the employees of Cost Control, for making the aspiration of children, youth, and adults of having this Educational Center a reality. This will become a study center for young people and adults, where they will be able to conduct electronic transactions with private companies and the government. We are grateful to Secretary Pérez Peña for selecting Vega Alta and this community of Las Violetas as her first inauguration event. We wish her a successful conclusion to her administration and thank Governor Jennifer González Colón for selecting you for such an important government secretariat," she stated.

This is the CET Technological Educational Center; it is the 60th to be inaugurated and the first inaugurated by the designated Secretary Pérez Peña. Residents were also able to enjoy a services fair organized by private companies, Iglesias, the municipality of Vega Alta, and public agencies.

At this Las Violetas CET, 10 computers were installed with their respective headsets with microphones, two virtual glasses, an educational platform that serves levels from preschool to university degrees and Microsoft programs, a 55-inch touchscreen television, a printer, photocopiers, an area with tables and items for the little ones, air conditioners, security cameras, among others, for a total investment of approximately $51,000 dollars.
