Carolina – The children at the Department of Housing's Daycare Center recently had their Achievement Day at Agua Sol de Carolina, where they spent a family day with their parents, grandparents, or guardians.
According to the Center's director, Laura A. Dávila Romney, she reported that "this class, composed of children ages 2 to 4, children, grandchildren, or stepchildren of employees of the Department, its CDBG-DR/MIT Disaster Recovery Program, and the Housing agency affiliated with the Public Housing Administration (PHA), advanced to the next grade—approximately 26 children. The older children who turn 5 or have already turned 5 move on to the regular Kindergarten education stream."
A historical fact is that this is, if not the only, one of the few Daycare Centers that exist in public agencies. It began operating in August 1979. Of the 46 years that have passed since then, this class is the 44th to have its Achievement Day and has served uninterruptedly except for the years of the Covid-19 Pandemic between 2020 and 2021.
