Approximately 65 young people began work as summer employment workers for the Department of Housing (DV), the CDBG-DR program, and the Public Housing Administration (AVP). These young people were welcomed by staff from the Human Resources Assistant Secretariat, headed by Lisneida Nieves.
They had the opportunity to receive a self-esteem talk given by Ms. Olfa Durán of the Employee Assistance Program (PAE), and then another lecture on the prevention of alcohol and substance use and abuse, given by Mr. Edwin Colón of the Mental Health and Addiction Services Administration (ASSMCA). In addition, for those under 18, Department of Labor staff processed the corresponding work permits.
These young people, whose parents or relatives are agency employees, will in some cases have their first job opportunity in the various DV, AVP, and CDBG-DR programs and services between this June and another round of youth placements in July.
Please receive a warm welcome from Secretary William Rodríguez and Public Housing Administrator Alejandro Salgado, and wish them success in their duties.
