
San Juan – Over 350 young people from the Public Housing Administration (PHA) residential areas were recognized for their achievements in leadership, education, sports, and values, among others, during the recent celebration of Housing and Public Housing Week.
The ceremony, attended by the Secretary of the Department of Housing, Ciary Pérez Peña, the agency's Undersecretary, Omar Figueroa, the PHA Administrator, Juan Rosario Hernández, and the AVP Deputy Administrator, Alberto Fradera, was held at the Pedro Rosselló González PR Convention Center, and the 2025 Youth Medals were presented.
During the event, four young people were selected for their achievements in their communities. These were: Heklanys Rivera Quiles, Youth Boxing-SP Area 1; Chris Isaac Contreras, Youth Basketball-Mora Housing Area 5; Yansiel Adorno Rivera, Youth Boxing-AM; and Cristine Joan Arroyo, Youth Champion-Individual Management. In addition, well-deserved recognition was given to the dance group Shadows of the Dance, made up of young residents of the Luis Llorens Torres and Las Margaritas Residential Complexes. They recently arrived on the island after competing in Panama with similar groups from all over Latin America, winning 10 of the 11 competitions of various genres.
The event concluded with lunch, the presentation of gifts to all the young people, and a performance by Aniel Rosario with his dynamic, Pompeo Intenso.
