Trujillo Alto – Following the public policy of Governor Jenniffer González Colón and Secretary of the Department of Housing Ciary Pérez Peña to expedite reconstruction processes after hurricane, storm, and earthquake disasters, Ms. Nilda Quiles González of the Saint Just neighborhood in Trujillo Alto received her new home.

Her house suffered significant damage after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, so she was given priority to meet the definitions of elderly applicant or applicant with a disability, as established in the CDBG-DR/MIT program regulations.

The total cost of the new house is $164,784, and it has two bedrooms and one bathroom, complying with reasonable accommodations under Federal Law 504, or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All current building and green building codes were met, kitchen fixtures, kitchen appliances were Energy Star certified, plumbing fixtures were "Water Sense" certified, aluminum storm windows, ceiling fans, Energy Star certified LED lighting and an Energy Star certified solar water heater.
