Public Service Week was recently celebrated on the island, during which the work of Ms. Omayra Betancourt, the director of the Department of Housing's regional office in Carolina, was recognized.

Ms. Betancourt was recognized by Representative and former Speaker of the House Carlos Johnny Méndez and Fajardo Mayor José Aníbal "Joey" Meléndez, as the office she directs serves citizens from Trujillo Alto and Carolina to Vieques and Culebra. The officials expressed their gratitude for Ms. Betancourt's work on behalf of the citizens of the communities she and her staff serve throughout the northeast coast of Puerto Rico.
