
Ponce – Secretary of the Department of Housing, Ciary Pérez Peña, visited the municipality of Ponce to meet with Mayor Marlese Sifre. During the meeting, they discussed the development of several affordable housing projects. They also discussed alternatives to support the well-being of communities and public housing complexes managed by the Public Housing Administration through its administrative agents, located in Ponce. Also present at the meeting were Gloreane Camacho, Regional Director of Housing in Ponce, and Job Bonilla, Director of Municipal Housing.
Secretary Pérez Peña and Mayor Sifre also signed two Memoranda of Understanding. The first, for the administration and operation of the Luis Biaggi Center, guarantees the continuity and strengthening of services for senior citizens, optimizes the use of a public facility, and promotes a more responsive and responsive management approach to the needs of the community.
The second memorandum enables the reconstruction of the remaining properties in the Tu Ciudad Renace (Your City Reborn) program, utilizing available funds totaling $2,403,554.30, comprised of municipal and remaining state funds. This action allows for the completion of housing projects that have been on hold for years, ensuring that resources are used responsibly, efficiently, and with a direct impact on the most vulnerable families in the city of Ponce.
