San Juan – Two new families joined the more than 14 families in the Villas de Coamo project who have benefited from the Direct Homebuyer Assistance Program, with contributions from federal subsidies under the Department of Housing's CDBG-DR/MIT program.
These are the cases of Ms. Liz Irmaris Collazo, a young mother who had been searching for a home for herself and her teenage son for a long time. Through the program, she fulfilled her dream of finding a safe place for her family and acquired her property in Villas de Coamo. Ms. Haydée Torres Feliciano, a 30-year-old native of Juana Díaz, was also able to sign the deeds for her new home in Villas de Coamo.
In the photos, both citizens are accompanied by the Secretary of the Department of Housing, Ciary Pérez Peña, and the agency's Undersecretary, Atty. Omar Figueroa, Ricardo Álvarez, Executive Director of the Housing Finance Authority (AFV), and Sonia Morales Delgado, Deputy Director of the AFV.
The AFV is the Puerto Rico Government entity that, in conjunction with the Puerto Rico Housing Authority (Huertas de Puerto Rico), administers these federal funds so that low- and middle-income people can acquire their first home.
