San Juan – After just over a month of what was, for many, their first work experience, the Department of Housing; its affiliated agency, the Public Housing Administration (PHA); and the Disaster Recovery Office (CDBG-DR/MIT) bid farewell to approximately 90 young people, children and stepchildren of agency employees, who since June 3rd had worked at the central Housing office on Barbosa Avenue in Hato Rey or at one of the 12 regional Housing offices on the island.
Addressing those present, the Undersecretary of Housing, Omar Figueroa Vázquez, thanked them for their work in the offices and various areas and encouraged them to continue their studies to build a good future. “We hope this experience will be useful in your lives and that when you resume your higher education or university studies, you can dedicate yourself to building a future, whether in a profession or trade. But always remember that you are the ones who will replace us in these positions and that Puerto Rico needs you with your diverse talents, for a better future for you, your families, and Puerto Rico,” said the current acting secretary of the agency.
This closing ceremony was hosted by television host Aniel Rosario, who with his flair launched a series of interactive games and got the young people dancing. In addition, they were given a talk by motivational speaker Héctor Millán with his song “Jóvenes a Otro Nivel,” in which the value of entrepreneurship and creating a life purpose was highlighted.
The activity concluded with a farewell from the heads of each area where these young people worked and lunch. In addition, each of them was presented with a backpack and a thermos of water with the official logo of the Department of Housing.
